ERS elections are held annually and offer all ERS members the opportunity to have their say about the future leaders of our Society. Member votes are extremely important and we encourage all members to contribute. All current calls for candidates or voting opportunities will be updated on this page, so please check back regularly.
Voting is currently open for ERS leadership elections and we are accepting nominations for two open ERS assembly head positions (see details below).
ERS leadership elections
The 2018 leadership elections allow you to vote for your preferred candidates for the following roles:
- Vice President (who will successively become ERS President Elect and then ERS President)
- Secretary General Elect
- Treasurer Elect
- Science Council Chair Elect

How to vote
Casting your vote is simple: go to ‘my ers’ and click on the ‘elections’ tab. You are then invited to rank the candidates in order of your preference.
All successful candidates will be announced during the ERS General Assembly Meeting, which will take place at the ERS International Congress 2018 in Paris. This event is open to all members.
Assembly head nominations
A call for candidates is currently open for the positions of:
- Head of ERS Assembly 8 ‘Thoracic surgery and transplantation’
- Head of Assembly 11 ‘Thoracic oncology’
ERS members will be informed via direct email how to nominate and which positions they are authorised to nominate for.
The nomination period will close on 5 July, 2018 and will be followed by a voting period.
