Everything you need to know about the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress 2024, Vienna.
The Business Centre is located at the beginning of the Mall after the Registration area. The Business Centre Services are at the participants’ own expense.
Breastfeeding mothers are permitted to bring their babies up to the age of 6 months into the Congress center and within scientific sessions. Additionally, there is a breast-feeding room for privacy available in the Congress center reserved for congress participant.
Note: We do ask that parents with babies are considerate of other delegates and, should babies become upset during presentations, aim to leave the session room as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to others. Hostesses onsite may ask anyone causing a prolonged disruption to leave sessions.
If you are bringing an infant, please make yourself known at the pre-registration desk on arrival so that a few additional security details can be taken.
There is parking available, called Parkhaus A Prater which is just before the Registration area (Foyer A). You can enter through Nordportalstraße 172, 1020 Vienna.
Cash dispensers are located in the Mall after the Registration area.
Further cash dispensers can be found here under the search of “Messeplatz 1”.
No official lunches will be provided for Congress participants but there will be a number of lunch facilities around the Congress centre, including cafeterias, restaurants, bars and several coffee/snack points.
Water fountains will be available throughout the venue, please note that all tap water is drinkable and of high quality in Vienna. Please do not forget to bring your water bottle or container.
This year the Congress platform, the Abstracts and the e-Posters will be united in the Congress Resources Areas. Those services will be available in five areas throughout the Congress centre. The Congress Resources Areas will also provide delegates with the means to charge their Apple and Android devices for free. In 2024, this service is supported by MSD.
ERS will offer childcare services onsite during the ERS Congress 2024 in Vienna. It is recommended that you book and pay for your childcare services at the point of registration for the event. Only registered participants are able to register their children for childcare, and a participant number is required to do so.
All available options are listed within the registration form. The available child places will be filled on a first-come first-served basis, and we cannot guarantee spaces onsite without a pre booking. Book here using our online form.
How will this childcare service work and what is included?
A cloakroom service for coats and reasonably sized luggage is available during the opening hours of the Congress. The cloakroom service will be located one floor below the Registration area and is at the delegates’ own expense. The cost per item is €4.
CME credits are awarded based on your hourly attendance to live sessions and session replays. From 20 September and after completion of the Congress evaluation survey, your will be able to download your CME and attendance certificates on your myERS account.

Congress badges will have a QR code that contains a link to some of the personal data (first/last name, address, e-mail and professional category) which delegates have submitted to ERS to register for the 2024 ERS Congress.
By allowing any third party to scan their badge during this event, participants give their consent to share their data with them. The barcode will act as an electronic business card.
Nonetheless, delegates are under no obligation under any circumstances to share their details with any third party during this event. This does not include the security checks at the entrance of the Congress centre or of each hall.

Dress will be informal throughout the Congress. ERS reserves the right to refuse access when deemed necessary for the comfort and safety of all delegates.
ERS will build and service a lounge and meeting area for the Congress delegates. This area will be located in the middle of the ERS World Village. The seating area will cover a total of 450sqm and will offer delegates the possibility to work, meet up, network or simply rest with a cup of coffee. In 2024, this service is supported by MSD.
This exhibition is restricted to healthcare professionals. The general public (including patients and children) are forbidden by international law to enter the exhibition or any room hosting an industry activity. For guidance on childcare services and breastfeeding at the ERS Congress, please refer to the information available towards the top of this page.
In the event that children are required to enter the Congress centre, they should by supervised by an adult at all times and observe the restrictions that apply to limited access area. In the event that a member of public is invited to participate in the ERS Congress Scientific Programme, they should be accompanied by a qualified healthcare professional or ERS representative, observing the ERS restrictions where appropriate.
First aid is available in the tower of the Congress centre.
In case of a medical issue inside the venue, they will be able to coordinate any further action (call an ambulance, go to a hospital etc).
A Hotel Desk will be available in the ERS Congress Registration Area from Saturday 7 September to Wednesday 11 September, 2024, during Registration opening hours.
ERS accepts no liability for injuries and/or losses of whatever nature incurred by participants and/or accompanying persons, nor for loss or damage to their luggage and/or personal belongings. Please check the validity of your own insurance.
Internet connection is available throughout the Congress centre.
The official language of the Congress is English. No translation will be provided.

The education, scientific and industry programme of the Congress will highlight state-of-the-art clinical practice, recent advances, new data and views from different stakeholders and international organisations, all of which can be found in the ‘programme-at-a-glance’ available in the Registration area.
Please pay special attention to your personal belongings, especially when walking around the city centre and on public transport.
Any security problems or concerns within the Congress venue should be reported to a uniformed member of staff. Emergency exits are marked with exit signs.
The ERS Congress will take place in RX Wien, which is a smoke/vape-free venue. This ban applies to the whole building, including the catering locations and loading areas. As smoking is a major cause of lung disease, ERS further asks Congress participants and exhibitors not to smoke in RX Wien or any area within 100 meters of the building.
Depending on the availability, it is possible to acquire a manual wheelchair on site. Manual wheelchairs are free of charge and can be picked up at Registration. Personal ID will be requested as a guarantee until the wheelchair is being returned.
ERS Congress delegates and the wider public can take part in Take the Active Option at Congress, a 5km run/2.5km walk to raise funds and awareness for the ERS and European Lung Foundation initiative, Healthy Lungs for Life.

Taxis will be available outside of the Registration area (Foyer A) during Congress days and opening times.
We wanted to bring to your attention that Austria has strict regulations with regards to the use of air conditioning and this will affect the temperature of the Congress centre. With the regulations, the temperature of the air conditioning has to be set at 21-22C. We are informing you of this so that you can consider the appropriate clothing, which takes into consideration a warmer temperature inside.
The Vienna City Desk, located in the Registration area, will be available to provide further information about the city and your visit.
The most efficient way to travel to the venue of the ERS Congress 2024 is by public transport.
ERS has negotiated a special rate for public transportation cards with the Wiener Linien for ERS Congress delegates. Please note that these cards will be sold at the time of registration for €20 per person for an unlimited travels on all buses, metro and commuter trains within Vienna during the Congress days.
Should you purchase the transportation card during the registration process, it will be printed on your congress badge and used on the transportation system.
Please note: The transportation card is not included in the ERS Congress registration fee.
As ERS has negotiated a special rate for delegates, please note that no reimbursement will apply in case of cancellation. Additionally, should you require to cancel your registration to the ERS Congress, please note that no reimbursement will apply for the purchased transportation cards.
