Yes, you can. An opt-out system will be included when you are informed about the new ERS membership programme by your national/regional or respiratory medicine related specialist society.
If your national/regional/specialist society has already decided to be part of the scheme you can contact the society directly for more information. The ERS community is comprised of Assemblies and Groups that specialise in specific areas of respiratory medicine and set the scientific and educational agenda across all ERS activities. ERS has 14 Assemblies, divided into groups, which members can choose to become affiliated with.
When you first log in to the myERS portal, you can join up to 3 groups of interest: the first one is your main group where you can exercise your voting rights and the second and third choice groups allow you to keep up to date with this professional interest area via mailings and circulars relevant to this topic.
It is possible to update your assembly affiliations through myERS. Once you are logged in, select “My Profile” from the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner. From here select “Edit Full Profile”. Scroll down and you will have the option to update your assembly details.
To find out more about your ERS membership and ERS activities, please visit myERS.
Joining the ERS assemblies is not compulsory but it is highly recommended in order for you to fully benefit from your membership and be active in the scientific and educational activities of ERS. By becoming affiliated to an assembly and working groups you become part of the nerve centre of ERS; voting for new leaders, shaping key activities such as the Congress programme and task forces, and being the first to hear about new opportunities and events in your professional interest area.
You can update your contact details and check your membership whenever needed through the myERS portal. Alternatively if you experience any issues with the system you can contact the ERS Membership team at members@ersnet.org.
For further details regarding ERS membership, please contact us at members@ersnet.org.
The free silver under 40 membership category, is only available to individuals who are NOT eligible for membership through one of our partner societies. If you are being prompted for the full gold membership, it means that you are eligible for membership from one of society partners. See the full list of partner societies.
We encourage payment by VISA, MASTERCARD, or AMERICAN EXPRESS. You will be prompted to use your credit card to complete the purchase when purchasing or renewing a membership through myERS. It is also possible to pay via bank transfer. If you are interested in doing this, please contact members@ersnet.org.
Having multiple accounts in myERS creates technical and login issues. If you discover that you have two or more accounts, please contact the membership team.
If your professional category is not accepted by your national society, myERS will recognise this and you will be prompted to pay a €30 membership fee.
The ERS made the decision to stop printing and mailing copies of ERJ, ERR and Breathe in 2019 and came into effect in January 2020.
Over the years, it has become clear that continuing to print and mail a limited circulation of journals when the online versions are so highly accessed and visible across the world no longer seems like a sensible use of resources. It also becomes increasingly hard to justify this when ERS advocates for clean air for all, and we need to be seen to be taking positive action where it is possible to do so for our activities.
Despite this change, your membership package still comprises online access to the ERS publications.
Gold dual membership is an arrangement that ERS has with a number of sister organisations to offer a discount for ERS Gold membership. If you are currently a member of ATS/APSR/EAACI/ESPR/ESCMID you can benefit from this discount and join ERS for a reduced rate of €145.
You can access ERS publications by logging into your myERS account using your username and password and then clicking on the Publications tab at the top of the page. This will redirect you to the Publications section and allow you to access the content online.
Alternatively, you can access the Publications section directly at https://www.ersjournals.com/ and login using your myERS username and password.
