Meet the editors: Early Career Editor mentoring programme - article image

Following a competitive open call for candidates to apply for the European Respiratory Journal’s (ERJ) Early Career Editor mentoring programme, ERS is pleased to announce the successful candidates and their mentoring editors:

  • Merete Long will be mentored by ERJ Chief Editor Martin Kolb.
  • Cristina Ardura-Garcia will be mentored by ERJ Associate Editor Isabella Annesi-Maesano.
  • Yet Hong Khor will be mentored by ERJ Section Editor Vincent Cottin.
  • Francesca Polverino will be mentored by ERJ Section Editor Don D. Sin.
  • Daan W. Loth will be mentored by ERJ Associate Editor Louise V. Wain.

The ERJ mentor programme runs for two years, from December 2020 to end of November 2022, and offers early career editors the opportunity to increase their engagement with scientific publishing and gain experience in editorial board work and manuscript handling.

Due to the great response to the call for applications and in order to accommodate more high-quality applicants on this programme within the ERS journals family, the editors of ERJ Open Research (ERJOR) and European Respiratory Review (ERR) were delighted to offer similar opportunities to a number of early career editors in ERJOR and ERR’s mentor programmes, which run for twelve months.

The following were selected to take part in the ERJOR Early Career Editor mentoring programme:

  • Stephen Milne will be mentored by ERJOR Associate Editor Joana Cruz.
  • Mareike Lehmann will be mentored by ERJOR Associate Editor Brian Oliver.
  • Arietta Spinou will be mentored by ERJOR Associate Editor Ahmad Kantar.
  • Gregoire Justeau will be mentored by ERJOR Associate Editor Laurent Boyer.

And we also look forward to working with the following as part of the European Respiratory Review Early Career Editor mentoring programme:

  • Raúl Méndez Ocaña will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor Michael Niederman.
  • Mirjam Stahl will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor Michal Shteinberg.
  • Holly Keir will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor James Chalmers.
  • Yunus Çolak will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor Marc Miravitlles.
  • Nicolle Domnik will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor Renata Riha.
  • Mouhamad Nasser will be mentored by ERR Associate Editor Vincent Cottin.
