The NEUROCOUGH Clinical Research Collaboration (CRC), supported by ERS, undertook its first-ever Delphi study to create a guide for establishing and managing specialist cough clinics.

New understanding in the treatment of cough (NEUROCOUGH) is a partnership between clinicians, scientists, patients and industry. Funded by ERS and industry partners, NEUROCOUGH is working towards a shared vision to advance clinical management of chronic cough across Europe, enhance research capability, and generate a framework for clinical trials.

This recent study, Consensus goals and standards for specialist cough clinics: the NEUROCOUGH international Delphi study, has helped to gain consensus among an international group of 57 clinicians with cough expertise from 19 countries on the goals and standards for specialist cough clinics. The Delphi technique was used as it is a well-established approach to answering a research question through the identification of a consensus view.

The new guidance focuses on optimal chronic cough care, standard practices, clinical research, and cough specialty training. This guide is adaptable, accommodating diverse healthcare landscapes across various regions.
