In the very near future, diagnostic devices will be able to monitor a patient’s physiological or biochemical parameters continuously, under natural physiological conditions and in any environment through wearable biomedical sensors. Together with apps that capture and interpret data, and integrated enterprise and cloud data repositories, the networks of wearable devices and body area networks will constitute the healthcare’s Internet of Things. Although several issues still need to be solved, smart wearable technologies will provide unique opportunities for the future or personalised respiratory medicine.
The audience will be offered a review of state-of-the-art regarding the sensors, systems and platforms currently available for respiratory patient’s remote monitoring through wearables. Moreover, it will have the opportunity to know the current trends, not only in terms of technological development but also in terms of regulatory issues of medical device entities.
Lecture (40 mins, including multiple choice questions) + discussion.

Following this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the main advantages and current limitations of wearables for continuous remote monitoring of patients with respiratory diseases. This will have an important impact on the current and future clinical practice, including the management of CoVid-19 disease.
This webinar is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP), 1 CME credit per 1-hour attendance. The CME credit will be granted upon attendance during the LIVE webinar only (attendance of at least 60 minutes is required).
What is a webinar?
The webinar closely simulates a lecture-based teaching experience. The speaker can interact with the audience, just as in a classroom setting.
This webinar comprises of a 40-minute lecture followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer sessions. During the webinar you will be asked to share your opinion on issues related to the topic using interactive polls.
All participants will be able to hear the lecturer and see the slides throughout the presentation. As a participant you will be able to pose questions or discuss ideas with the other participants via the text chat facility and the speaker will respond to the questions via the microphone.
