Torsten is a Senior Physician at the Clinic for Pneumology at the Lungenklink Heckeshorn in Berlin, Germany. He was a member of the past German national lung cancer guideline group and coordinated the section on quality indicators. Torsten co-chaired the ERS Task Force ‘The European Initiative for Quality Management in Lung Cancer Care’ and is involved in the long-range planning committee of the ERS Thoracic Oncology Assembly. His main clinical research interest is the management of patients with lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. He has published on various diagnostic and therapeutic aspects as well as quality of care within this field.

Professor of Medicine, Scientific Director for the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Warsaw

Joanna is a Professor of Medicine and since 2008 has been the Scientific Director for the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (NITLD) in Warsaw, Poland. Her clinical/scientific interest is mostly devoted to molecular biomarkers and genetic diagnostic of lung cancer (ctDNA, liquid biopsy, novel biomarkers), COPD and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD). She is a coordinator of the National Expert Group for Lung Cancer, Coordinator of the Central-Eastern European Alpha-1 Network and of the National AATD Registry, member of the Medical Steering Committee of the European Reference Network-LUNG as well as the European Alpha-1 Research Collaboration initiative. She served as ERS Secretary General and is the current ERS Vice President.

Ugo is the Director of the Thoracic Surgery Division at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan. His clinical research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary lung cancer, use of PET scan for staging of thoracic malignancies, salvage surgery of lung metastases and mediastinal tumors, biology of lung carcinogenesis and chemoprevention of smoking-induced cancers. He has conducted clinical trials involving over 20.000 patients/subjects and is the principal investigator of three prospective trials on lung cancer screening with LDCT that are on-going from 2013. In 2016 he received the Joseph Cullen Award for Research on Lung Cancer Prevention from the IASLC

He has made a notable and original scientific and professional contribution to the research of lung cancer, pulmonary circulation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and lung transplantation. He is a member of the Central Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health, the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb, National Coordinator for Specialization in Pulmonology, Chairman of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Health for the treatment of patients recovering from the COVID-19 disease and National Coordinator of the Croatian National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

Marie-pierre is a Professor of Radiology at Université de Paris Cité and head of the Radiology department at Cochin hospital, APHP Centre. She is past president and honorary member of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging and has an internationally recognized expertise in thoracic imaging. She is involved in the SOLACE consortium (Strengthening the Screening of Lung Cancer in Europe) as the leader of the pilot study aimed at improving women's knowledge and participation in lung cancer screening. She is co-chair of an ERS task force on the management of positive lung cancer screening results.
