Brief overview

The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim is an interdisciplinary research institution with international staff and works on various model systems by making use of the latest cutting-edge technologies. It focused on Heart and Lung Research and investigates the structure and working of the heart, blood vessels and lungs. Our main goals are to improve understanding of the pathogenesis of lung and heart diseases, particularly pulmonary hypertension, in order to develop novel therapeutic strategies, and to teach clinical and scientific academics.

Research infrastructure/facilities

The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art core facilities including services in next generation sequencing, proteomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, microscopy, animal facility, small animal imaging, and human lung tissue preparations. Furthermore, it is fully equipped with all the required tools to perform biochemical, molecular biology and cell culture studies.
