For World No Tobacco Day 2024, ERS sponsored a prize in the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Global Centre for Good Governance in Tobacco Control (GGTC) social reels challenge.
The winner of the ERS sponsored prize, Protect Young Lungs (PYL), has been announced as Jam Althea Agner from the Philippines.
The ERS PYL prize was designed for the entry that best emphasises how children must be protected from tobacco industry tactics to protect their respiratory health.
Jam’s entry ‘Guarding youth from e-cigarettes’ discusses the efforts to protect youth from the harmful effects of e-cigarettes, with a focus on lung health. This video highlights the importance of awareness and preventative measures to safeguard young people’s wellbeing.
Other winning entries of the PYL award, selected with the help of previous ERS Tobacco Control Committee Chair, Prof. Jonathan Grigg, include ‘Are vapes Safer? Doctor explains the facts’, ‘Unmasking the truth behind e-cigarettes’, and ‘How the tobacco industry is luring the youth’.
You can view all of the winners on the GGTC multimedia hub.
