The latest updates to the Global Lung Function Initiative (GLI) calculator enable researchers to access newly published reference equations for lung volume calculations, alongside the existing functions for spirometry and carbon monoxide transfer factor (T,LCO). In addition, an application programme interface (API) has been developed to enable users to calculate global lung function reference values for large data sets for spirometry, T,LCO, diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (D,LCO) and Lung volume.
The GLI network is an international collaboration of researchers and clinicians that bring together lung function data from healthy individuals to publish normative ranges.
The updated GLI calculator, including newly published reference equations, is available online free of charge. The new API, which goes by the name of the ‘RESTful API’, can be used to program lung function equations into analytical software, and is available through paid subscription:
- Plan 1: 100 Euro (up to 1000 records per month per year)
- Plan 2: 500 Euro (up to 10000 records per month per year)
- Plan 3: 1000 Euro (up to 100 000 records per month per year)
Revenues from the API will be used to support the GLI network and ongoing development of reference equations for lung function tests.
