The European Respiratory Society (ERS) has announced a significant increase in the number of funding opportunities available for respiratory professionals submitting abstracts for the ERS Congress 2025.
For 2025, ERS will triple the number of congress sponsorships it offers to eligible candidates; the number of young scientist sponsorships will also double for the next ERS Congress.
An increased number of congress sponsorships will be available for candidates from scientifically developing countries (SDCs) who also meet the following criteria:
- Have an active ERS membership
- A minimum average grade of 3.5
- Must not have received any other ERS grant or sponsorship in the last three years
- Aged 40 or under at the time of the application deadline
In addition, young scientist sponsorships are available to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Have an active ERS membership
- A minimum average grade of 3.5
- Must not have received any other ERS grant or sponsorship in the last three years
- Aged 40 or under at the time of the application deadline
Since 1992, ERS has offered more than 2,500 grants and sponsorships to recognise excellence and support young investigators to participate in the annual ERS Congress.
Prof. Nicolas Roche, ERS Science Council Chair said:

Abstract submitters should note that this increase currently applies to the ERS Congress 2025 only.
