Post-TB lung disease and multimorbidity in children

Children represent approximately 11% of the global TB burden. In recent years, it has become apparent that survivors of TB disease may have life-long consequences with multiple morbidities including respiratory, cardiac, mental, neurological, and other disabilities. Although this entity is now well recognised and defined, data on this entity in the paediatric age group is just emerging.  The patterns, presentation, severity, and outcomes associated with PTLD in children and adolescents depend on the timing of the lung insult, the developmental stage and maturity of the immune system, and the potential for lung recovery with lung function ‘catch-up’ over time.

Format

In this webinar, 3 speakers from ERS and PATS will discuss Post TB lung disease and multimorbidity in children. The webinar will be interactive by including voting questions in the presentations and by promoting an active Q&A session.

Learning outcomes

Following this webinar, participants will be able to know latest evidence in terms of the definition, spectrum of lung disease, treatments, and potential treatments in PTLD in children as well as research gaps from both high and low to middle income countries perpectives.
