The “Healthier Lungs, Healthier People: A Project For the EU” event organised with the support of the Czech Presidency of the EU 2022, will take place in Brussels at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the European Union, on September 26.
Organised by the ERS Advocacy Council together with the Czech Pneumological and Phthiseological Society (CPFS), it will be divided in two sessions (morning and afternoon) starting at 11:00 CEST and finishing at 17:00 CEST.
The morning session will focus on lung health and primary prevention, early diagnosis and secondary prevention
- joint screening and smoking cessation programs,
- genetic, molecular and environmental risk factors,
- increasing awareness of lung health.
The event will highlight the European Commission’s proposal to have Council recommendations on Cancer Screening including lung cancer and the EU’s Healthier Together initiative – which lists chronic respiratory diseases as a priority area. It will convene thoughts from leaders from across different sectors, doctors, policy makers and patients association.
