The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is pleased to announce that virtual academies in both adult and paediatric respiratory medicine will take place online this summer, providing a comprehensive overview of each of the major fields of respiratory medicine.
Following feedback from similar online events, the programmes will be split into two parts with a break of several days in between in order to make virtual attendance more manageable and optimise participants’ learning experience.
Part one of the adult academy will run from 29–30 June, with part two taking place from 5–7 July, while the paediatric academy will run from 1–2 July and then from 8–10 July.
The programmes, which are based on the HERMES syllabus, are designed for all respiratory professionals wishing to update their knowledge or those preparing for the HERMES examinations, and consist of comprehensive lectures, interactive case-based sessions, workshops and Q&A discussion sessions. The programme for the adult academy will also provide COVID-19 updates on each topic area, while the programme for the paediatric academy will include a ‘Faculty on fire’ session, where participants can challenge the experts with their questions.
Participants wishing to be a part of the programme are invited to submit a clinical case before 30 May, 2021, which will be presented and discussed during a case-based session if selected. Participants preparing for the HERMES examinations may also register for the ERS HERMES self-assessment courses in adult and paediatric respiratory medicine for the reduced fee of €75.
