The Philip Morris-funded ‘Foundation for a Smoke-Free World’ has changed its name to ‘Global Action to End Smoking’.
Governments and public health communities should continue to refuse to partner with this organisation, which is funded by a global tobacco company.
Its activities support a broader tobacco industry strategy to mislead the public about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine product use. Particularly concerning are the potential efforts to target children and young people, creating a new generation of tobacco and nicotine users.
Governments and the public health community must remain vigilant and prioritise genuine, independent public health efforts to end tobacco and nicotine use.
