The 23rd ERS Lung Science Conference (20–23 March; Estoril, Portugal, and online) will see the return of the Sunday morning online pass, a registration option launched in 2024 which provides online access exclusively for the event’s Sunday session.

The first three days of the Lung Science Conference focus on basic and translational science, whereas the Sunday programme spotlights therapeutic approaches. The idea behind the Sunday online pass is to invite respiratory professionals with a clinical background to join the session online, to bring different perspectives from a clinical audience.

Prof. Silke Meiners, ERS Conferences and Research Seminars Director and coordinator of the Lung Science Conference 2025, explains the reason behind this new registration option.

“During the LSC’s Sunday session we aim to move from the basic and translational science that we learned in the days earlier at the conference to novel therapy approaches on the Sunday morning,” said Silke.

“This year, for example, we will focus on innovative regenerative therapy concepts for chronic lung diseases. Specifically, we will cover strategies for CRISPR based gene editing, stem cell and gene therapies. We also have something new in the form of patient involvement.

“We hope to promote interactive discussions between basic scientists, clinicians and patients’ representatives on challenges and future directions for stem cell and gene delivery directed therapies.

“I encourage anybody with a clinical perspective to register and join us online for the Sunday session at this year’s LSC.”
