On October 26, 2022, ERS has published a statement in response to the European Commission proposal for a revised EU Ambient Air Quality Directive (AAQD).
The European Respiratory Society has been strongly and continually advocating for improvements in air quality standards to ensure the best outcome for European citizens and for an ambitious AAQD. The burden of disease caused by air pollution remains unacceptably high in Europe, causing premature deaths, many debilitating diseases, and having an effect on the climate change crisis and its related health consequences.
