A new CME module is now available which focuses on diagnosis, assessment and patient management of COPD. The module is led by the director Prof. Alvar Agusti who is accompanied by Prof. Claus Vogelmeier and Prof. Jorgen Vestbo.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a major global health problem because of its high prevalence, rising incidence. The disease is also currently, the 3rd cause of death in the world and has a global cost of around €38 billion a year in the EU. The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (www.goldcopd.org) has recently published the 2021 and 2022 reports. This module reviews some of the main topics in these reports, including the diagnostic criteria for COPD, its pharmacological and non-pharmacological management and use of biomarkers such as circulating eosinophils, among other, as well as a new chapter on COVID-19 and COPD.

The module involves interactive case simulations, panel discussion videos, suggested readings and will end in a CME test. Participants with a myERS account will also be able to take a test on the topic at the end of the module, which is accredited with one CME credit. A CME certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the CME test.
