The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is now accepting applications for the position of ERS Guidelines Director for the period 2027–2030.

ERS financially, methodologically and operationally supports task forces intended to produce scientific documents, including clinical practice guidelines, statements and technical standards for adoption as official ERS documents on issues related to respiratory medicine. The ERS Guidelines Director ensures a coherent and comprehensive task force portfolio as well as a smooth, fair and transparent selection process for future projects. The Director supports the strengthening of ERS methodological resources for guideline development. Additionally, the Director supports the Science Council Chair in the strategic development of ERS scientific activities.

As well as working in collaboration with the Science Council and ERS staff and methodologists on these activities, the Director also chairs the ERS Guidelines Working Group.

The Guidelines Director is a voluntary, unpaid role with a three-year mandate and an additional one-year shadowing period beginning in October 2026.

“This role offers an unmissable opportunity to play a key part in the development of crucial clinical practice guidelines, statements and technical standards to shape the field of respiratory medicine – I encourage all ERS members to apply.” says current Director, Winfried Randerath.

To apply, complete this form and return it by email together with a CV to scientific@ersnet.org by 31 May, 2026. A full job description is available for further information including role requirements and commitments.
