The Adult Cystic Fibrosis Conference will take place from 1–2 December, 2023. Organised by the European Respiratory Society in partnership with the European Cystic Fibrosis Society, this event will provide an integrated approach to diagnosis, treatment, and continuous management of cystic fibrosis in adults.
As a hybrid event, participants have the option to attend the conference online, or onsite in Milan, Italy. Attendance is encouraged amongst health professionals involved in cystic fibrosis patient care.
Prof. Francesco Blasi, Professor of Respiratory Medicine, Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation at the University of Milan, and Co-Chair of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Conference 2023 answered some questions about this year’s event.
Q: Tell us about the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Conference 2023 and its aims?
Prof. Blasi: This conference is aimed at healthcare professionals who work in cystic fibrosis with a special emphasis on adult patients. There are very few meetings which focus on cystic fibrosis in the adult setting. This is a very important topic not only for respiratory clinicians but for the multidisciplinary team involved in CF patient care.
Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from experts in the field of cystic fibrosis, network with peers from around the world, and participate in interactive sessions. In addition to accessing knowledge in this field, there will also be the option to feed into the programme by submitting cases and abstracts for presentation and discussion.
Q: Who should attend Adult Cystic Fibrosis Conference 2023?
Prof. Blasi: If you are a healthcare professional involved in the care of patients with CF, then this conference is of value. The conference welcomes respiratory clinicians, residents, allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, dieticians, psychologists, and all clinicians from paediatricians to infectious diseases doctors.
Q: Why is the event so important for both the ECFS and ERS?
Prof. Blasi: Adult Cystic Fibrosis management is based on a multidisciplinary approach covering a vast area of expertise. By joining forces, both societies bring about the best available content in an optimal format, presented by key opinion leaders.
Q: What are you looking forward to about the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Conference 2023?
Prof. Blasi: There is not one specific topic for me, but overall I’m looking forward to learning the latest developments and interacting with many colleagues from different countries and with different professional backgrounds.
Q: Tell us more about onsite opportunities for attendees?
Prof. Blasi: It is often not just about the information itself, but the presentation of that information. Attendees should enjoy and benefit from the mix of keynote lectures, oral symposia, oral and poster sessions and other didactic styles. These things combined will ensure we have a very interactive meeting that I think will be very successful. Do not miss out on this educational opportunity! The speakers and topics warrant a boost for your daily practice.
