It has come to our attention that there are individuals that associate themselves with the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the Turkish Thoracic Society (TTS) and promote ideas and beliefs that do not represent the values, views, or recommendations of ERS and TTS.

As the representatives of ERS and TTS, we want to make our position on COVID-19 vaccination clear: we strongly support COVID-19 vaccination efforts and encourage all who are eligible to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their communities. We recommend all citizens comply with COVID-19 measures that are in place to protect the health and wellbeing of medical professionals, those living with all chronic conditions, including respiratory conditions, and the public from SARS-COV-2 infection. We aim to lead with science to alleviate suffering and improve the lives of people living with respiratory conditions.

Ahead of the World Lung Day on Saturday 25 September, we reiterate this position and stand with our colleagues who prioritise science and health in urging the public to get vaccinated.

Signed by: ERS President Marc Humbert and TTS President Oya Itil
