World Cancer Day 2019
4 February, 2019
Each year on 4 February the global community observes World Cancer Day. The event aims to unify international efforts in the fight against cancer and raise the profile of cancer in the world’s media.
The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) reports that 8.8 million people die from cancer worldwide each year, with an estimated 1.6 million of those due to lung cancer.
As lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, it continues to be a priority for medical professionals, scientists and researchers working in the respiratory field.
To mark the day, we have gathered a range of resources on the topic of cancer for easy access:
- ERS e-learning materials
- European Lung White Book: Lung cancer
- ELF Patient Priorities: Lung cancer
- ELF lung cancer factsheet and information pages
Visit the UICC World Cancer Day website for further information and resources.
