  • Data scanning system

Congress badges include a QR code containing some of the personal data delegates provided during registration: first and last name, address, email address, and professional category.

The QR code acts as a digital business card. By allowing a third party (such as an exhibitor or sponsor) to scan their badge, delegates consent to sharing this information with them.

Scanning is always optional. Delegates are under no obligation to have their badge scanned by any third party at any point during the congress.

Please note that this does not apply to security scans carried out at the entrance of the congress centre or individual halls, which are mandatory for access.

  • Dress code

The dress code for ERS Congress 2026 is smart casual. As the venue is fully air-conditioned, bringing an extra layer is recommended.

ERS reserves the right to refuse access to anyone whose attire is considered inappropriate or disruptive to the comfort and safety of other delegates.

  • ERS Central (lounge and meeting area for delegates)

ERS Central is a service lounge and meeting area located in the heart of the ERS World Village, offering 250sqm of space to work, meet, network, or simply relax.

  • Exhibition access

The ERS Congress exhibition is restricted to healthcare professionals. The general public (including patients, children and members of the lay press) are forbidden by European and national law to enter a space where prescription medicines are being promoted. Please ensure your badge is clearly visible to all exhibitors so that they can greet you accordingly. Entry to industry-organised symposia is at the discretion of the company organising the session.

  • First aid

First aid is available in Hall 3, close to room 3K.

In case of a medical issue inside the venue, please contact first aid [number coming soon]. The first aid team will be able to coordinate any further action (call an ambulance, go to a hospital, etc.).

  • Hotel Desk

A Hotel Desk will be available in the ERS Registration Area from Saturday 5 September to Wednesday 9 September 2026, during congress opening hours.

  • Security

Please pay special attention to your personal belongings at all times, particularly in the congress venue, when exploring the city centre, and on public transport. Barcelona is a vibrant and welcoming city, but like many major tourist destinations it is known for pickpocketing activity, and we encourage all delegates to remain vigilant.

Any security problems or concerns within the congress venue should be reported to a uniformed member of staff. Emergency exits are marked with exit signs.

  • Smoking and vaping

The ERS Congress will take place in FIRA Barcelona, which is a smoke/vape-free venue. This ban applies to the whole building, including catering locations and loading areas. As smoking is a major cause of lung disease, ERS further encourages congress participants and exhibitors not to smoke in FIRA or any area within 100 metres of the building.

  • Special accessibility needs

    Information coming soon!

  • Taxis

Taxis will be available outside the south entrance during congress days and opening times.

  • Transportation cards

The most efficient way to reach the venue is by public transport.

ERS has negotiated a special rate with TMB for a 5-day unlimited travel card covering all buses, metro (including the airport), and urban railways (zone 1) within Barcelona, at €17.86 per person. Cards can be purchased at the time of registration.

Please note that the transport card is not included in the congress registration fee and is non-refundable, including in the event of registration cancellation.

  • Travel discounts

    Travelling by train

ERS has negotiated a special discount with RENFE for ERS Congress delegates.

More information on this coming soon!
