Ambient air pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic – any link?

This webinar was held by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the International Society for Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM) on 16 September, 2021.

Expert speakers discussed the effect of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns on air pollution, the impact of air pollution on diseases and morbidities including COVID-19, and what is required in terms of global clean air policies and standards. The speakers included:

  • Prof. Nino Künzli – Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and University of Basel, Switzerland, and Chair Swiss Federal Commission on Air Hygiene
  • Prof. Zorana J. Andersen – Chair of the ERS Environment and Health Committee and Professor in Environmental Epidemiology at the Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Prof. Barbara Rothen-Rutishauser – President of ISAM and Professor in Bio-Nanomaterials at the Adolphe Merkle Institute, Switzerland
