On 16 March, ERS will join health and patient organisations from all over the world to observe the 11th annual World Sleep Day. This year’s slogan incorporates the message: “join the sleep world, preserve your rhythms to enjoy life”, which is intended to emphasise the importance of circadian rhythms in healthy sleep.
Sleep disordered breathing is very common in Europe and encompasses a range of conditions characterised by abnormal breathing during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) in particular is a major public health problem across Europe; untreated OSAS greatly increases the risk of accidents due to sleepiness, and highlights the importance of providing high quality treatment for people living with the condition.
To mark the day, we have gathered a range of ERS publications and selected e-learning materials on sleep disordered breathing for your easy access.
For a limited time, until 30 March, ERS is also offering a €10 discount on all copies of the ERS Monograph on Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. This Monograph considers this high-impact condition from four different perspectives: pathogenesis; at-risk populations; clinical scenarios; and treatment and management. Comprehensive and up-to-date chapters provide the reader with a concise overview of OSA.
