Dr Giovanni Battista Migliori, member of the ELF Council and Secretary General of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) participated in a World Health Organization meeting which looked at efforts to fight tuberculosis (TB) in the Americas.

The 8th Regional Meeting of Countries with Low Incidence of Tuberculosis in the Americas aimed to develop strategies and implement advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis with the goal of eradicating the bacterial infection in the coming years.

One of the main challenges identified in accomplishing this goal is achieving collaboration across broad sectors including health, academia and the local community.

The meeting also recognised the good strategic work of similar organisations in their own national TB programs including the Pan American Health Organisation and its scientific associations.
