“Presenting at the Lung Science Conference gave me real visibility in the lung field and opened up doors for new connections and collaborations.”
There is not long left to submit an abstract for the 24th ERS Lung Science Conference (LSC), which will take place from 19–22 March, 2026 in Estoril, Portugal, and online.
Dr Antonella Dost, winner of the Oral Presentations – Geoffrey Laurent Award at the 2025 event, explains the reasons why you should submit your work to be presented at the next conference. Read more from Antonella below and submit your work on the event website.
Visibility and a platform for career development
Presenting at the LSC gave me real visibility in the lung field and opened up doors for new connections and collaborations. Once people have seen your poster or your presentations, it’s much easier to make new connections because it breaks down barriers that can seem really daunting otherwise.
There is also a lot of focus on early career researchers – such as mentoring lunches and sessions that are specific for career development – making it the ideal place for career development.
Boost your confidence, connect with peers and experts
The Lung Science Conference is the perfect place to grow, regardless of your career stage or where your project is at. Sharing your data will not only spark new research ideas, but it will also boost your confidence and help you to make connections with your community that will help push your research forward.
Even if you are not sure if you are ready to submit an abstract – I think you definitely should! It will push you out of your comfort zone and it is the best way to develop. The LSC is the perfect place for this.
A warm, welcoming atmosphere
What I particularly like about the LSC is the smaller scale of the event. It’s only a few hundred people compared to other, much larger events like the ERS Congress; the LSC has a really nice, warm and welcoming atmosphere and it is easy to approach people there.
Because of this, when it comes to networking, at the LSC it is also much easier to interact with the more established and senior people in the lung field because it has such an approachable, friendly atmosphere.
