Each year at the ERS International Congress, we recognise leaders in the field of respiratory medicine and science for their research excellence and lifetime achievements with Gold Medals and Main Awards.
These awards are intended to celebrate those who have made a great impact to the respiratory field, for their academic and professional accomplishments, and for their role in helping to drive the ERS mission of promoting lung health and alleviating suffering from disease.
This year we also want to recognise individuals who are under the radar, but whose hard work is extremely valuable both for the Society and for the respiratory community, with the introduction of the ERS Teaching Award.
New for 2019, this award is presented to multiple recipients to highlight their contribution to teaching and education in the field of respiratory medicine, which takes great dedication and often comes at the cost of family time and other personal commitments.
It is our great pleasure to give the first ever ERS Teaching Awards to the following individuals:
- Dr Maren Schuhmann
Dr Schuhmann is a respiratory physician at the Thoraxklinik-Heidelberg in Germany. We are delighted to present Dr Schuhmann with this award in recognition of her hard work on the development of the Endobronchial Ultrasound Certified Training Programme and a variety of Skills Workshops sessions, which take place each year at Congress.
