ERS will launch a first-of-its-kind online news resource in January 2026, which will keep medical professionals up-to-date with the very latest and most significant news across the broad spectrum of respiratory medicine and science.

Recurring monthly and hosted by European Respiratory Journal Editor Prof. James Chalmers, Respiratory News Live will present news from the past month – inclusive of the hottest topics, newest therapies and most significant scientific developments – alongside highlighting any notable developments on the horizon.

The first live broadcast of Respiratory News Live will take place on 26 January at 18:00 CET, live on the ERS Respiratory Channel. This live broadcast is free to watch but requires registration. Registration for this first broadcast is possible now.

Each of the event’s monthly live broadcasts will be 30 minutes long – efficiently presenting the news and offering a live audience Q&A. A replay will be available for a short period after each broadcast. Prof. James Chalmers said:

“This is a very exciting new programme format from the European Respiratory Society – offering something different to the respiratory community. It is an efficient and accessible way for respiratory professionals to stay in the loop with the very latest and most significant respiratory-focused news month by month.

“We hope to see a regular audience joining us, in much the same way as people would tune into the nightly news.”

The first live broadcast of Respiratory News Live will take place on 26 January, 2026, with subsequent episodes scheduled for February and March.
