It is with great pleasure that we announce the incoming ERS Vice President 2017-2018 following a second round of voting by ERS members. Congratulations to Professor Thierry Troosters on his new position.
Beginning his role as ERS Vice President, Professor Troosters will successively become ERS President Elect and then ERS President – making him a key and influential figure within our Society.
Commenting on his election, Professor Troosters highlighted: “It is with a lot of energy that I take on the assignment of future president given by the membership of our Society. I’m honoured by the election and commit to work for and with the membership to keep the Society among the best Societies where biomedical scientists and clinicians feel at home. I will work with the ERS staff, leadership, the directors and assembly officers to achieve science, education and advocacy results from which you, as an ERS member, can benefit.
“In order to improve global respiratory health I hope we’ll be able to continue fruitful collaborations with global sister societies and the European Lung Foundation. I also hope to count on you as experts in your field to help in dissemination and communication. I’m dedicated to striving towards a Society where inclusive science and care are promoted through multidisciplinary collaboration. I’m looking forward to working for and with you all.”
We would like to thank all voting members of ERS as well as all competing candidates for their participation in this important election.
