Each year the European Respiratory Society (ERS) celebrates its members across a wide variety of contributions and achievements in respiratory medicine and science. In 2026, two brand-new awards have been announced to recognise members contributing to the important area of advocacy – a key pillar of the Society. The call for applications/nominations is open now for both of the awards.
Both of the newly-launched awards are exclusively for ERS members and the deadline to apply or nominate is 30 April, 2026 at 23:59 CEST.
The two awards will be presented at the ERS Congress in Barcelona alongside ERS’s other prestigious scientific, educational and special honour awards. The recipients will receive free registration to the event.
The ERS Advocacy Mid-Career Award will recognise an ERS member who has an excellent track record and the potential for further outstanding developments in advocacy for respiratory medicine/health.
The ERS Advocacy Lifetime Achievement Award will honour highly-regarded senior members of the society who have made significant contributions to advocacy, that have influenced policy or practice related to the respiratory field in a major way.
Commenting on the launch of these awards, Prof. Barbara Hoffmann, ERS Advocacy Council Chair, noted: “Advocacy is one of the three key pillars of ERS. We have many members actively contributing towards advocacy of respiratory medicine and health. I’m delighted that we now have an outlet to honour these members for the great work they have done and continue to do.”
Could you be the first-ever recipient of one of the ERS Advocacy Awards?
