The latest CME Online module, Chest trauma management, is now available on the ERS Respiratory Channel.
This module is directed by Dr Veronica Manolache. Mr Ian Hunt and Dr Caviezel will help guide participants through the module.
The module is designed for thoracic surgeons, cardio-thoracic surgeons, emergency care providers, pulmonologists, and general surgeons.
Chest trauma has a high mortality and morbidity rate. Correct and fast assessment in pre-hospital or primary care units sets the tone for immediate and long-term evolution of the patient. Diagnosing and stabilising the patient are paramount. This course aims to teach you how to differentiate between the type of chest injuries, categorise the urgency cascade, and establish proper track of treatment.
Following completion of this module, the facilitators hope that participants will be able to:
- Correctly assess, diagnose and manage chest trauma patients.
- Identify type of chest trauma injury and differential diagnosis.
- Cascade clinical and para-clinical assessment.
- Decide the need for emergent surgical intervention.
