FIRS call for a unified voice on World Lung Day 2018

On 25 September, respiratory organisations from around the world will celebrate World Lung Day. The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) encourages organisations to have a unified voice on lung health to mark the day.

The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) is an organisation comprised of the world’s leading international respiratory societies, including the European Respiratory Society, working together to improve lung health globally.

World Lung Day falls right before two historic events: 26 September, the United Nations High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis and 27 September, the United Nations High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases. Many of us are working hard to have these days highlight the terrible burden of lung disease and to make a difference.

Too often we take breathing for granted. World Lung Day provides an advocacy platform for people affected by and working against respiratory disease around the world.

World Lung Day supporters can join the campaign by signing the Charter for Lung Health, using the World Lung Day digital toolkit and by organising their own World Lung Day events.

A unified voice of all organisations dedicated to respiratory health will be a powerful force.
