Welcoming medical students to the ERS Congress

The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is offering up to 70 medical students, with an interest in specialising in respiratory medicine, an opportunity to attend the ERS Congress 2025 for free. The application deadline is 4 August, 2025.

What’s special about our Congress?

The ERS Congress is the world’s largest respiratory conference, regularly attracting a global audience of respiratory professionals – including the leaders in the field of respiratory medicine and science. The event presents more than 4,000 scientific abstracts over the course of five days, plus educational and networking opportunities throughout.

If you are considering pursuing a career in respiratory medicine, then an opportunity to attend this event can offer unparalleled insight into the field. What would registration include? 

  • Daily welcome and introduction to the day. 
  • Suggested sessions and activities to attend from the programme. 
  • An opportunity to get involved with educational activities. 
  • Opportunities to connect with the society’s early-career members. 

 

Do I have to attend the whole fiveday event? 

Your registration will grant you access to the full event, but you are not obliged to attend all. Please note that if you indicate on the registration form that you would like to be involved in educational activities, you would be required to attend on specific dates and times. 

 

How to apply 

Applications can be submitted as part of the ERS Congress registration form. The deadline to apply is 4 AUGUST 2025 at 23:59 CET. Please read the criteria and restrictions before applying.

Criteria and restrictions: 

  • Only registration cost is covered by ERS, any travel or accommodation needs would need to be funded by other means. 
  • Priority will be given to applications from students in their 4th/5th/6th year.
  • Priority will be given to medical students who have submitted a project or abstract in respiratory medicine for the event. 
  • Applicants must be able to communicate in English.
