The recent studies into computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer showed that it reduces lung cancer mortality. Implementing screening programmes in the EU would save lives and importantly cut costs in our health systems.
In light of this, ERS – under the auspices of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union – will be holding a half-day roundtable on the topic of lung cancer screening. Hosted together with the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine (EAPM), the event will take place on Monday 8 April, 2019 at Fondation Universitaire in Brussels. The meeting will discuss the latest developments in Member States and the rationale for adopting screening programmes in the EU.
The agenda of the day will include the following sessions:
- Session I: Best Practices & Feasibility of Lung Cancer Screening to Improve Lives
- Session II: Political Need for Action
The event is also supported by the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) and European Society for Radiology (ESR).
