Active ERS members Nick Kanellakis and Aurelia Gondrand ran the Paris Half Marathon on Sunday 10 March, 2019, to help to spread the messages of the ERS/European Lung Foundation (ELF) Healthy Lungs for Life campaign – and they want you to join them for their next race.

Nick and Aurelia, who are both based at the Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford, UK, have participated in numerous races worldwide, and wanted to use this unique opportunity to promote the ERS/ELF messages of encouraging people to become more physically active.

Nick and Aurelia explained: “Physical activity is a way to a better and healthier life. Physical activity can make us happier and help us to commit to our goals, and we believe that sports are for all, no matter the age, the physical condition or the previous experience.

“When we have discussed the idea of setting up an ERS running team with other members, there seemed to be a lot of interest, and we feel that participating in sporting events is a good way to communicate our ideas and the messages of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign. We strongly encourage ERS members that are interested to get in touch, and join us for our upcoming races!”

Nick and Aurelia plan to run the Paris Marathon on 14 April, 2019, followed by the Athens Marathon on 10 November, 2019.
