Study from ERS Clinical Research Collaboration ‘CADSET’ may facilitate early detection of asthma with airflow obstruction and concomitant coronary artery disease - article image

The findings of ERS Clinical Research Collaboration (CRC), CADSET, may be instrumental in early detection of asthma with airflow obstruction (AO) and concomitant coronary artery disease. 

Chronic Airway DiSeases Early sTratification (CADSET) is a pan-European network committed to promoting clinical research in chronic airway diseases.  

A recent study from the CADSET CRC, Phenotyping asthma with airflow obstruction in middle-aged and older adults: a CADSET clinical research collaboration, concluded that asthma patients with AO show more dyspnoea compared with asthma without airflow obstruction (asthma-only) and compared with COPD without asthma history (COPD-only). Additionally, among the general population, AO patients had more often elevated blood eosinophil counts and coronary artery disease compared with both asthma- and COPD-only. These findings may facilitate early detection of mild AO and concomitant coronary artery disease in the general population.
