The latest edition of the award-winning online event ERS Satellites is fast approaching. This year’s event will focus on paediatric respiratory disease, asthma, COPD and interstitial lung disease (ILD). The popular ERS Satellites format will enable participants not only to benefit from the latest scientific findings and clinical updates – presented by experts in their respective fields – but to also pose questions and engage with the expert panel from anywhere in the world.
Co-Chair Prof. Hilary Pinnock (ERS Education Council Chair) picks out five of the key reasons why respiratory professionals, particularly those specialising in paediatrics, asthma, COPD and ILDs, should attend this year’s event.

An interactive, highly anticipated programme
Hilary says: “I am looking forward to learning from global leaders and being challenged to consider the implications of advances in knowledge to my clinical practice – but maybe I am most excited about the interactivity built into the programme.
“A quarter of each of the sessions is devoted to ‘Q&A’, and there will plenty of opportunity to submit questions online as they occur to you. Nicolas and I will be watching the questions as they are submitted and will be able to challenge the speakers on behalf of participants.”

A unique yet familiar event in a tried-and-tested format
“ERS Satellites 2025 will follow a familiar format, but its content is unique – this year covering ILDs, the early origins of lung disease and prevention, as well as the ever-popular topics of asthma and COPD,” says Hilary.
“The global faculty will be providing knowledge updates and – even more importantly – challenging us with new ideas, suggesting new approaches to old problems, and horizon scanning with advances that we should look out for over the next few years.”
-
The expertise presented and breadth of topics covered
Hilary says: “For me, it is the global expertise and the breadth of the topics covered that make ERS Satellites so popular.
“ERS Satellites covers important respiratory disease areas from basic science to practical implementation, encompassing the lifespan from paediatrics to adult respiratory care – along with horizon scanning and insights from leading faculty across the world – all in one day from the comfort of your own home. Where else can you get this kind of content?”
-
An accessible online format
“Flexibility is probably the main benefit of the ERS Satellite format,” says Hilary.
“That includes the flexibility to watch the sessions live or catch up with the replay on the ERS Respiratory Channel; to choose the sessions of most relevance to your work and interests or opt for a general update by joining all the sessions.
“The format of each session with four authoritative talks and generous time for Q&A is similar, with chairs from national societies in France, Czech Republic and Ireland to help ensure wide applicability of the topics.”

CME accreditation for a free event
Hilary adds: “ERS is applying for CME accreditation from the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) to support your portfolios – and (thanks to our sponsors) it is free to healthcare professional from around the world!
“I look forward to ‘seeing’ you on 4 March, 2025.”
