Ahead of World TB Day, the ERS Ad hoc Working Group on TB Advocacy will jointly host an open seminar on tuberculosis (TB), alcohol and tobacco.

The event, which is open to all respiratory professionals, will take place at the Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP) in Portugal on 22 March.

The day's programme will include speeches from ISPUP President Henry Barros, ERS Secretary General Prof. Carlos Robalo Cordeiro from the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Medicine, and Isabel Aldir, Director of both the National Programme for HIV Infection, AIDS and Tuberculosis, and the National Programme for the Viral Hepatitis, Direção-Geral da Saúde (DGS).

The agenda for the day also includes sessions on raising awareness of TB, a look at the trends and challenges facing the current tobacco epidemic in Portugal, and the role of the media in managing national coalitions.

Admittance to the event is free but those wishing to attend must register online.
