The European Respiratory Journal is calling out for high quality research papers in relation to post-COVID syndrome.

Deadline: 1 November, 2023.

It has been estimated that approximately 10% of all patients who have recovered from acute COVID-19 are suffering from persistent symptoms of cough, dyspnoea and fatigue over and period of many months and sometimes years after the acute infection. This condition, which is now known as “long COVID” or post-COVID syndrome is a growing clinical and public health concern across the world, with no evidence based therapies.

In response to this global challenge, the European Respiratory Journal is calling for new submissions in the field of long COVID, post-COVID syndrome and the long term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly with regard to the pulmonary system. We will give preference to papers that are clinical trials, provide mechanistic insight to its pathophysiology, or shed new knowledge on its clinical course or endophenotypes.

The ERJ can offer fast track peer review and publication for suitable papers. Interested authors with suitable manuscripts (both full length original research papers and research letters) should submit their work online before 1 November, 2023. Please indicate on the submission cover letter that the paper is in response to this call.
