Respiratory Impact Conference: programme at a glance - article image

7 April, 2026

The ERS Respiratory Impact Conference promises to deliver an engaging and interactive programme of workshops, symposia and poster presentations.

This is a two-day event taking place in Rotterdam, Netherlands on 25–26 June. Instead of a more typical focus on presenting research, this conference is dedicated to turning evidence into real-world-impact

There is an early-bird discount available on registration until 21 April at 23:59.

Programme at a glance

Note: There will be multiple poster sessions available alongside the listed workshops and symposia.

DAY ONE (09:00 to 18:30 CEST)

Opening session: Policy to action

This session will explore how to translate high-level policy into concrete action. It will cover what is needed for implementation, including research, education, and coordinated efforts between professional societies and patient organisations. Short project presentations and an interactive panel will examine how to optimise synergies and identify research, education and advocacy gaps.

Symposium | ERS Impact: ERS research portfolio implementing respiratory care

This session will explore how to translate high-level policy into concrete action. It will cover what is needed for implementation, including research, education, and coordinated efforts between ERS, ELF, professional societies and patient organisations. Short project presentations and an interactive panel will examine how to optimise synergies and identify research, education and advocacy gaps.

Workshop | Engaging stakeholders

This session will explore how to work with stakeholders as partners in shaping and delivering research strategies. Through interactive exercises on tailoring messages for politicians, the public, researchers, clinicians and social media, participants will practise adapting key findings for different audiences and reflect on which messages have the greatest impact.

Oral poster presentations: The challenge of inequities

Panel discussion | What is equity?

Panellists will share their perspectives on inequities and what achieving equity means from their perspective.

Workshop | Building equity into applied/implementation research

In this hands-on session, participants will work in small groups to identify concrete ways to engage diverse stakeholders, adapt communication for different audiences, and design projects, policies, or advocacy strategies that actively promote fairness and inclusion in healthcare delivery.

DAY TWO (09:00 to 17:00 CEST)

Workshop | Methodology

This session explores the essential skills required to conduct effective research. Participants will identify the core competencies needed to design, execute, and evaluate research projects, including critical thinking, data analysis, information literacy, and methodological rigor. The discussion will highlight practical strategies for developing these skills and applying them to produce reliable, impactful results.

Oral poster presentations: Digital innovation in health service delivery

Symposium | Bridging the gaps: Digital integration of care

In this interactive session, participants will explore how to turn digital integration of care from theory into reality. Participants will work in tables using hypothetical scenarios to apply concrete implementation considerations. Each table will design a digital integration “pitch” and compete in a Dragon’s Den–style game, presenting their solution to a judging panel. The best pitch wins, but everyone walks away with practical insights, tools, and inspiration to bring technology meaningfully into care pathways.

Symposium | Shaping tomorrow: Applied and implementation research for better care delivery

This session will look at the next frontier of applied and implementation research in healthcare delivery with a focus on respiratory medicine. It will explore how to better translate evidence into routine practice, support frontline teams, and design research that directly improves care, outcomes, and system performance.
