The European Respiratory Society (ERS) has added a translation function to its educational webinars as part of the ongoing development of its online educational resources.
The new function, which is powered by artificial intelligence, gives webinar participants the ability to translate a live event into as many as 60 languages using closed captions. It is also possible to listen to the translation. The translation tool is located just below the live video player.
The development aims to support the Society’s commitment to expanding its global collaborations, which has been identified as a priority area for ERS within its new strategy.
It is also the latest expansion of the ERS Respiratory Channel – the main online resource for accessing all of the Society’s state-of-the-art online educational and scientific content.
English will remain the primary spoken language of ERS webinars; the translation function is currently available for the live event only and not the event replay.
