ERS HERMES examination in adult respiratory medicine-Kolkata 2019

We have reached examination capacity of 200 participants, please note that if you register for the exam your application will be put on a waiting list and you may not be accepted for the exam.

The Indian Chest Society (ICS) will deliver the inaugural ERS HERMES examination in adult respiratory medicine outside of Congress in Kolkata 2019. Participants can register for the European diploma and upon successful completion, will receive a diploma in adult respiratory medicine and join our established group of ERS HERMES diplomates. Registrations for the examination are now open. The examination will take place at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre

Registration steps

  1. Check your eligibility and prepare all necessary documentation for your examination category. Only respiratory specialists who are members of ERS/ICS and are practicing/studying in India and its neighbouring countries can attend the ERS HERMES exam in Kolkata 2019. Note: Each electronic document must be in pdf, jpg, doc, or docx, and be no more than 2MB in size.

  2. Register online through your myERS profile. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you have completed your online application.

  3. Your registration will be processed within 14 days. If your application has not been approved, you will be contacted by the ERS HERMES examination team via email.

  4. Registrations will close 6 weeks before the examination date on 2 November 2019.

**Please note that applicants can only take one adult HERMES exam in 2019 at ERS Congress on 28 September in Madrid, Spain or with ICS on 08 December in Kolkata 2019.

Examination format

The examination has the same format as the examination delivered during the annual ERS International Congress. The 3-hour-long written examination is composed of 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in English. The MCQs are selected from the examination blueprint and are designed around the consensus-based European Syllabus in respiratory medicine. Examination day

The examination will take place on Sunday 08 December 2019 from 10:00 to 13:00.

Approximately two weeks before the examination date, you will receive an invitation letter with a voucher (in pdf) via email, which enables you to enter the examination room. It also includes your unique seat number. A seating chart will be provided as well, so you can find your seat quickly.

You are allowed to bring only the following items into the examination room:

MANDATORY: Printed voucher MANDATORY: Identification document (passport, national ID, driver’s license) Light jacket or sweater We ask you to leave all other personal belongings (bags, smartphones, wallets, keys, food, drinks etc.) at your accommodation.

Pencils, erasers and a water bottle for each candidate will be provided on-site.

Examination schedule – 08 December, 2019
08:00 Registration desk in front of the examination room opens. It is mandatory that you sign the register at the desk before examination.
09:30 Examination hall opens.
09:55 All participants to be seated. Verbal instructions are given.
10:00 Examination begins. The examination room doors close and any late participants will not be permitted to enter.
13:00 Examination ends.

Please make sure that you are on-site by 09:30 at the latest! At 10:00 the doors of the examination room will close and no one will be allowed to enter the room.
