The Virtual school in adult and paediatric respiratory medicine is an innovative, online experience designed to update your knowledge on the major fields of respiratory medicine.

This event is free of charge and consists of a two-track learning experience between adult and paediatric respiratory medicine, including interactive sessions and MCQ discussions. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to register for a Q&A Extension in either adult or paediatric respiratory medicine for a fee of €50.

Virtual school format

The programme will be split between adult and paediatric respiratory medicine, with one-hour sessions of each discipline running in parallel. Registered participants may choose any session from either track and recordings of each session will be made available after the event. Session formats will include:

  • Lectures, including interactive polling and open discussion.
  • Interactive case-based workshops conducted in small groups.
  • Case based sessions for the paediatric track, with cases submitted by participants.

Please note that all timings are in Central European Summer Time (CEST).

Q&A Extension

The programme also includes the opportunity to amplify and test your knowledge with a Q&A extension, which consists of a one-hour mock examination of 30 case-based multiple-choice questions selected from the pool of HERMES exam questions, followed by a two-hour discussion with ERS experts. This is an excellent opportunity to prepare for the European examination in adult/paediatric respiratory medicine. If you are interested in attending the Q&A extension, please choose your preferred category when registering. A fee of €50 will apply. Please note that the Q&A extensions will not be recorded.


An application will be made to EBAP for CME accreditation of this event. The number of credits that you will receive will correspond to the time you spend viewing the sessions live. Please note that you will not accrue credits for watching video recordings made available after the course has taken place.
