I am not a member of my national/regional or specialist society, can I still be a member of ERS?

Please complete the online application process through your myERS account.

I am a member of a national society outside of Europe, will my society still be eligible to sign a membership agreement with ERS?

In most cases national/regional or respiratory medicine related specialist societies outside Europe will be incorporated with endorsement and in agreement with the corresponding regional society.

I am a member of my national/regional or respiratory medicine related specialist society, but do not want to be a member of ERS. Can I opt out?

Yes, you can. An opt-out system will be included when you are informed about the new ERS membership programme by your national/regional or respiratory medicine related specialist society.

Who should I contact for more information about the ERS membership programme?

If your national/regional/specialist society has already decided to be part of the scheme you can contact the society directly for more information. If your society is not part of the scheme, you can contact ERS membership team directly to find out if your society is in discussions with ERS about the new programme by sending an email to: members@ersnet.org

How do I join an ERS assembly or working group?

The ERS community is comprised of Assemblies and Groups that specialise in specific areas of respiratory medicine and set the scientific and educational agenda across all ERS activities. ERS has 11 Assemblies, divided into groups, which members can choose to become affiliated with.

When you first log in to the myERS portal, you can join up to 3 groups of interest: the first one is your main group where you can exercise your voting rights and the second and third choice groups allow you to keep up to date with this professional interest area via mailings and circulars relevant to this topic.

To find out more about your ERS membership and ERS activities, please visit myERS.

Is becoming a member of the ERS assemblies compulsory when joining ERS?

Joining the ERS assemblies is not compulsory but it is highly recommended in order for you to fully benefit from your membership and be active in the scientific and educational activities of ERS. By becoming affiliated to an assembly and working groups you become part of the nerve centre of ERS; voting for new leaders, shaping key activities such as the Congress programme and task forces, and being the first to hear about new opportunities and events in your professional interest area.

How can I update my contact details and check my membership status?

You can update your contact details and check your membership whenever needed through the myERS portal. Alternatively if you experience any issues with the system you can contact the ERS Membership team at members@ersnet.org.
