Clinicians across Africa and Europe need to be aware of HIV infection and exposure on the spectrum of disease children can present with. With an increasing immigrant population in Europe, and a high number of children born exposed to HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, it is critical that clinicians share the latest research and management strategies for children with HIV infection and exposure.
Educational aims
The webinar will address the spectrum of respiratory infections and diseases in children who have HIV infection and HIV exposure and the impact on access to anti-retroviral treatments on the spectrum of disease in children exposed to HIV. The webinar will also highlight recent data on vaccine responses to important respiratory infections in this cohort of children.
Topic
- Respiratory infections in children with HIV infection.
Format
The webinar will follow a format of 20-25 minutes per speaker followed by a 15-minute Q&A session at the end.
Learning outcomes
After this webinar, attendees will have an overview of the scope of respiratory tract infection in HIV-infected children, the changing paradigm in management and presentation of respiratory tract infections in HIV-infected and HIV-exposed children, and understand recent data on care pathways for respiratory management in this vulnerable group.
CME credit
An application for accreditation of this webinar has been made to the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) for one CME credit per one-hour attendance. If accredited, the CME credit will be granted upon attendance of at least 60 minutes during the live webinar only.
What is a webinar?
A webinar closely simulates a lecture-based teaching experience. The speaker can interact with the audience, just as in a classroom setting. During the webinar, you will be asked to share your opinion on issues related to the topic using interactive polls.
All participants will be able to hear the lecturer and see the slides throughout the presentation. As a participant, you will be able to pose questions or discuss ideas with the other participants via the text chat facility, and the speaker will respond to the questions via the microphone.
