Register to attend the ERS event on tobacco control strategies in Iberian and Latin-American countries
Taking place on 27 March, 2017 in Madrid, Spain, the conference is entitled “Towards stronger tobacco control strategies – a forward look at Iberian and Latin-American countries” and is organised by the ERS Latin-America Working Group led by Prof. Carlos Jimenez-Ruiz, Chair of the ERS Tobacco Control Committee in partnership with the Latin-American Thoracic Association (ALAT), Portuguese Society of Pneumology (SPP), Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), Brazilian Society of Pneumology and Tisiology (SBPT) and supported by European Network for Smoking and Prevention (ENSP).
Two ERS reports will be launched on the day alongside our recommendations on tobacco control in Iberian and Latin-American countries to policy-makers from participating countries.
The event will specifically bring together health professionals, policy makers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to discuss prevalence, morbidity, mortality and tobacco control and prevention policies in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru.
The full agenda includes a presentation of the ERS report and an overview of the tobacco epidemic in the region, an understanding of the key challenges ahead and the recommended actions moving forward, as well as highlighting examples of successful tobacco control in the region.
