An ERS School Course to be held in Antwerp (Belgium) 9-11 December 2010 is set to cover a wide range of issues within the field of sleep medicine as well as teach participants practical skills such as performance of polysomnography. It will provide its target audience of practising physicians and physicians in training with detailed knowledge of the physiology of respiration during sleep and pathophysiology and mechanisms of obstructive sleep apnoea.

Other crucial areas to be covered include clinical symptoms of syndromes with cognitive, cardiovascular and metabolic consequences, diagnosis, central sleep apnoea, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, treatment strategies and practical issues, notably sleep recordings and sensors
