What is the White Book? This publication was officially launched on November 25, 2003 at the European Parliament in Brussels and was produced in conjunction with the European Lung Foundation (ELF).
The European Lung White Book is a 200-page report which includes data on the causes, means of prevention and treatment for a wide range of respiratory diseases, as well as epidemiological data collected from the 51 countries of the WHO Europe region.
It also details, for the first time, the financial impact of respiratory disease in Europe and highlights the requirements to improve both research and patient care. An entire section of the European Lung White Book is dedicated to training, teaching and research in respiratory medicine across Europe.
