Task Forces

What are task forces?

Task forces are ad hoc groups set up to address a specific issue in respiratory medicine. All ERS members are eligible to apply for funding to set up an ERS or Educational task force.

Any member of either ERS or the ATS may propose a subject for a joint task force

How to apply for funding

  • ERS task forces

An original application form should be sent to the attention of the Guidelines Director with a copy to the ERS Headquarters. Applications are reviewed by the ERS Scientific Committee, with the help of three outside reviewers.

Educational Task Forces Guidelines and Application

      Task forces in brief

      1. ERS task forces can be initiated by an ERS member or by the Executive Committee. They are expected to submit their work—position papers, consensus statements or clinical practice guidelines—to peer review prior to publication in the European Respiratory Journal or other journals, if appropriate. The documents subsequently become official ERS documents on issues in respiratory medicine. 2. Joint task forces: ERS and the American Thoracic Society (ATS) encourage setting up joint task forces that foster mutual cooperation and produce international standards with broad utility. Any member of either society may propose a subject for a joint project.
      3. Educational task forces can be initiated by an ERS member or by the ERS School. They are expected to develop position papers, consensus statements or guidelines, which then become official ERS documents on issues related to education in respiratory medicine.
